Hayate returns home, and tired from staying up late with Suzuka, goes to sleep before making dinner. Signum and Shamal realize that the Book of Darkness itself is communicating with Hayate. During a doctor's appointment, Hayate falls asleep during an examination, and sees the Wolkenritter's past, where they are forced into battle to harvest the Linker Cores for power-hungry masters. Their masters treated them cruelly, forcing them to sleep in cells and go out to fight without enough time to restore their mana. Hayate then encounters the master program of the Book of Darkness, and speaks with her. Hayate eventually wakes up, forgetting what she experienced while she was asleep, and returns home with Vita and Shamal as Signum and Zafira end their mission to do the same. Hayate suspects that she will never recover from her illness and may die before too long, but wants to remain alive for her knights' sake. Meanwhile, Nanoha and Fate take a tour of the main Bureau office with the Liese Twins, who show them the main office, and suggests that they might wish to become Enforcers in the future.
