Cross Smasher (クロススマッシャー Kurosu Sumasshā) is a high-speed cross-range bombardment spell that can be cast with one hand.
Not proficient in close combat, Nanoha Takamachi has learned this spell in combination with a tactic wherein she block an incoming attack, immobilizes the opponent at a cross- or mid-range, and uses Cross Smasher as a quick counterattack.[1]
Name[]
The spell name may be a reference to the signature attack of Valsione (and Valsione-R), a Banpresto Original robot from Super Robot Wars series.
Notable uses[]
- In The MOVIE 2nd A's, while Nanoha is casting Exelion Shield to block Vita's Raketenhammer, she further casts Cross Smasher as a counterattack, throwing Raising Heart Exelion from behind, before Vita can attack with Schwalbefliegen. The command phrase here is "Smasher!"
Possible uses of the spell are noted as follows:
- In ViVid (ch.98), Nanoha casts an unnamed high-speed bombardment, probably Cross Smasher, with her left palm (as Raising Heart is then broken and presumably reverted to Standby Mode by Nanoha) to counterattack Vivio Takamachi in the cross range, blowing her to unconscious even Vivio is only slightly hit by the tail of the beam.
Variations[]
Cross Buster (クロスバスター Kurosu Basutā) is Nanoha's cross-range catch attack in The Battle of Aces,[2] capable of blowing the opponent away to the long range. Introduced earlier but chronologically later than The MOVIE 1st, it is presumably the same spell or a slight variation of Cross Smasher.
