Gefängnis der Magie is a force-field spell to generate a near-impenetrable sphere surrounding a vast area, entrapping all opponents who suit the caster's selection criteria inside. It also disables telepathic communication as well as visual display with anyone outside the force field.
The sphere looks like a dome/hemisphere after enlargement or when cast on the ground. In The MOVIE 2nd A's, however, Vita's Gefängnis der Magie becomes square-pyramid-shaped instead of spheric.

"Gefängnis der Magie", as stated by Graf Eisen and the Book of Darkness, literally means "Prison of Magic" in German/Belkan. It is known in kanji as Blockade Territory (封鎖領域 Hūsa Ryōiki).[1] Kanas are not officially stated for its kanji name in canon sources, otherwise it may be rubied as
In The MOVIE 2nd A's, it is referred to as a Capture Force Field (捕獲結界 Hokaku Kekkai) by Amy Limietta.[2]
Notable uses[]
- Gefängnis der Magie is cast by Vita on Earth before her assault on Nanoha Takamachi in A's (ep.1) / The MOVIE 2nd A's.
- In A's (ep.10), the Will of the Book of Darkness casts it to entrap Nanoha, Fate Testarossa, Yuuno Scrya and Alph after she takes over Hayate Yagami with an involuntary Unison. She also casts a similar but unnamed spell in The MOVIE 2nd A's.
- In The MOVIE 2nd A's, Shamal also casts a Capture Force Field on Earth during the Wolkenritter's hunt of Lindy Harlaown.[3] The force field is so tough that even four Bureau mages fail to dispel it.
