Graf Eisen (グラーフアイゼン Gurāfu Aizen)[1] is Vita's Armed Device.

It appears to have a personality but no programmed gender, and speaks German like other Ancient Belkan Devices.

Name[]

"Graf Eisen" means "Count Iron" (or "Earl Iron") in German. Notably, its initials are rendered "Ge" instead of "GE" in INNOCENT game and The MOVIE 2nd A's supplementary materials.

In the movie continuity, it is renamed as Graf Eisen Modified (グラーフアイゼン改 Gurāfu Aizen Kai) after the upgrade in Reflection. Such simple renaming may be due to the urgent and hence non-complex upgrade.

Vita usually calls it simply Eisen. Graf Eisen is also titled the "Count of Iron" (鉄の伯爵 Kurogane no Hakushaku).

Appearances[]

Graf Eisen is first introduced in the A's manga prologue and then featured in A's, StrikerS manga and StrikerS. It also makes a brief cameo in Force.

It generally appears as hammer-shaped, sometimes featuring a drilling spike in its more powerful forms. By the time of StrikerS, it has acquired an additional Limit Break form.

Alternate continuities[]

In the movie continuity, no significant change is noted in The MOVIE 2nd A's except for the minor changes in designs. In Reflection, Graf Eisen is urgently upgraded into Graf Eisen Modified by Mariel Atenza after being overpowered by Kyrie Florian's System Alter. It is equipped with an EM Cartridge System, while the materials and shapes of its hammerheads are revised to increase destructive power.[2]

In the Brave Duel continuity, all the active forms of Graf Eisen are adapted as Vita's Brave Duel Device (see Graf Eisen). It includes the three active forms in The MOVIE 2nd A's and Zerstörungsform in StrikerS.

Forms[]

Forms Primary continuity Movie continuity
Graf Eisen (グラーフアイゼン Gurāfu Aizen)
Standby Form
(待機フォルム
Taiki Forumu)
Appears as a miniature hammer, hanging on Vita's neck-chain.

First seen in A's (ep.3).

Similar to the primary continuity.
Hammerform
(ハンマーフォルム
Hanmā Forumu,
Ger. "Hammer Form")
Takes the form of a two-sided hammer that distantly resembles a polo mallet. In addition to melee use, it can also launch circular projectiles (Schwalbefliegen) and create a massive sonic shockwave (Eisengeheul) as distraction.

First seen in A's (ep.1).

Similar to the primary continuity.
Raketenform
(ラケーテンフォルム
Rakēten Forumu,
Ger. "Missile Form")
The more powerful rocket-propelled assault mode.

First seen in A's (ep.1); aka Form Zwei in Riot Force 6.

Comparing with the primary continuity, the size of the head part (one-sided hammer with tip) becomes larger, and the number of booster unit(s) increases from one to three.
Gigantform
(ギガントフォルム
Giganto Forumu,
Ger. "Giant Form")
Being the Full Drive of Graf Eisen, its hammer faces become octagonal. It can enlarge as many times its (or for that matter, Vita's) size when battling gigantic opponents, or remain compact in size for indoor/interpersonal battles or cartridge loading.

First seen in A's (ep.8); aka Form Drei in Riot Force 6.

Similar to the primary continuity.
Zerstörungsform
(ツェアシュテールングスフォルム
Tseashutērungusu Forumu,
Ger. "Destruction Form")
Graf Eisen's Limit Break form in StrikerS, combining Gigantform's size changing capabilities with Raketenform's rocket propulsion. As opposed to a metal spiked tip like the Raketenform, this form features a spinning drill as the tip.

First seen in StrikerS (ep.25); aka Form Vier in Riot Force 6.

Graf Eisen Modified (グラーフアイゼン改 Gurāfu Aizen Kai)
Raketenform
(ラケーテンフォルム
Rakēten Forumu,
Ger. "Missile Form")
N/A Similar to the original Raketenform with a minor change in design.
Gigantform
(ギガントフォルム
Giganto Forumu,
Ger. "Giant Form")
N/A Similar to the original Gigantform with a minor change in design. Besides, it is no longer the Full Drive mode as the new Panzerwerfer form is added.
Panzerwerfer
(パンツァーヴェルファー
Pantsā Verufā,
Ger. "Tank Launcher")
N/A Being the Full Drive mode of Graf Eisen Modified, it combines the specialities of both Rakatenform and Gigantform (similar to Zerstörungsform in StrikerS which is a more burdening Limit Break) and can destroy armors with the rotating mechanism at its tip. Its head part can also be shot to destroy gigantic opponents.

The name is presumably a reference to the rocket launcher Panzerwerfer 42.

Zerstörungsform may be a reference to Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, which aired concurrently with StrikerS and starred Tetsuya Kakihara as Simon.

Functions[]

Upgrades Description
Cartridge System Three-cylinder-type Belkan Cartridge System.

In The Gears of Destiny, a special program cartridge named Brummbär (ブルムベア Burumubea, Ger. "Grumbler") is used. Its name is presumably a reference to the assault gun Brummbär.

Notably, Graf Eisen is one of two Devices in the series (besides Bardiche) that have been subjected to Recovery on screen.
