Ragnarök (ラグナロク Ragunaroku) is a bombardment attack cast by Hayate Yagami in A's. It is also the most powerful option of bombardment spells possessed by Hayate and Reinforce at that moment (i.e. in 0065).[2]
The spell gathers energy into three separate spheres at each point of the Belkan Triangle muzzle. When unleashed, the spheres become three white beams of energy with different defense-interference and hit-reaction effects. This spell uses up the stored mana within the Tome of the Night Sky and temporarily reduces the number of pages filled, necessitating some recovery time after firing.[2]
The aria is "Resound, horn of the end!"
Name[]
Ragnarök is Old Norse for "final destiny of the gods", and also the "end of the world" in Norse Mythology. Its name is sometimes mistaken for "Ragnarök Breaker", as it appears that Hayate is shouting "Breaker" at the same time Nanoha and Fate are for their respective spells (collectively referred to as "Triple Breaker").
Notable uses[]
- In A's (ep.12) / The MOVIE 2nd A's, Hayate casts this spell along with Nanoha Takamachi's Starlight Breaker and Fate Testarossa's Plasma Zanber, in order to destroy the body of NachtWal after its defenses have been stripped away, leaving its Linker Core vulnerable to Shamal. Although originally designed to cause wide-area destruction, Hayate chooses to forcibly narrow down its effective area to an absolute minimum, making it a penetrating attack akin to Nanoha and Fate's own spells. The fine-tuning and processing needed for this have only been possible thanks to Hayate's Unison with Reinforce.[2]
- Ragnarök is Hayate's Full Drive Burst attack in the portable continuity games.
Trivia[]
In the TV release, a Belkan Triangle appears under Hayate's feet when she casts this spell, and the resulting beams are cyan and fired from three black arcs at irregular distance from another Belkan Triangle muzzle. In the DVD/BRD version and movie adoption, it is amended to a Midchildan Circle under her feet, while the beams are white and fired directly from a Belkan Triangle.
