Sleipnir (スレイプニール Sureipunīru), without much details in the canon sources, is a spell for flying or flight ability enhancement.
The six black wings usually seen on the back of Hayate Yagami's Knight Armor is Sleipnir and the wings are not needed when she stays on the ground.[1] Hayate is also seen without the wings during certain conditions, e.g. when carrying by Reinforce due to her health condition in the portable continuity, or when pairing with Fortress in Force etc.
Reinforce (formerly the Will of the Book of Darkness) also has four larger black wings most of the time when she is in her Battle Clothing.
Name[]
The spell is named after the eight-legged horse Sleipnir from Norse mythology.
The copy of Sleipnir used by Lord Dearche in the portable continuity has not been named in the series. It is covered in this article for simplicity, until there is other canonical source. Notably, in the scenario of The Gears of Destiny, her wings partially glow in vermillion and aqua blue colors after absorbing the power of Stern the Destructor and Levi the Slasher. Such form of her is known as "Lord Dearche Trinity" in the INNOCENT adaptation. In the movie continuity, this form is known as "Trinity Blood".
Notable uses[]
- Sleipnir is specifically cast by the Will of the Book of Darkness in A's (ep.10) before she flies into the air. The wings on her back increases in size afterwards.[2]
- In Hayate's scenerio in The Battle of Aces, she practices Sleipnir, i.e. flying.
- In Reflection, Hayate casts it a few times for flight support without setting up her Knight Armor.
