Stinger Ray (スティンガーレイ Sutingā Rei) is an aimed shooting spell cast by Chrono Harlaown in Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, firing several projectiles in rapid succession, much like the "volume of fire" generated by modern automatic firearms.

Although the light bullets fired are not particularly destructive, they are superior at muzzle velocity and barrier penetration, making this spell highly functional for mage-to-mage combats.[1]

Notable uses[]

  • In Nanoha (ep.8), after Alph creates an opportunity for Fate Testarossa to escape, Chrono fires Stinger Ray to pursue Fate, who instead chooses to get the Jewel Seed nearby with this opportunity. This is also adapted in The MOVIE 1st.
  • Stinger Ray is also adapted as Chrono's long-range attack in The Battle of Aces and The Gears of Destiny. Five aimed bullets are generated and fired singly against the opponent. Despite without any guiding function, the bullets will, if not hitting the opponent within their initial straight tracks, continue to loop around the battlefield like flying mines for some time.
