- No, it is very very complicated. Roughly speaking, the Tome already became the Book of Darkness in the age when Yuri exists. It is said that somebody in the Belka would like to deprive the "unlimited revival" power of the Book of Darkness, hence created the UD system/program. However, the power of Book of Darkness was too strong, and everything related including Materials (without physical outlook) and Yuri (as a human) were sealed deeply in the Book of Darkness. The causation of Dark Fragment Incident (i.e. the story of The Battle of Aces) is also clarified/changed a bit in order to link with the newly edited story in The Gears of Destiny. System U-D and Levi's explanation what it is[]
I'm currently doing the epilogue of sequence 03 and Levi is explaining what Unbreakable Dark really is. First she mentions that it's the biggest reason why Book of Darkness is called Book of Darkness. Then comes the iffy part. She describes what it is and says: 特定魔導力の無限連環機構！ Note that while she does use 無限連環 it is NOT rubied, nor does she pronounce it as Eternal Ring, as they will do later. The problem here for me is that I don't excatly get her meaning. Literally it's "Special magical power's infinite link system" (or " infinite link system of special magical power"). Now at first I thought that the link is a refference to linker core and linking, as in it's a system that provides infinithe linking (ei. infinite magic) to the special magical power that is UD. Buut considering that they will later call it Eternal Ring, the link might be more like link in a chain.
